Coordinator Finance (on sabbatical)
Wim Nusselder works for NIMD since June 2007.
After graduating at the Free University of Amsterdam in 1986 as a development economist, Wim Nusselder worked mainly in financial administration of non-profit organizations. Among them were the Dutch National Association of Third World Shops, the European Cultural Foundation and the Dutch branches of SOS Children’s Villages and Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (WereldOuders).
During his professional career he increasingly focused on financial and quality control-at-distance, taking into account not only a management viewpoint, but governance and strategic viewpoints also.
This shift in focus from internal control (with a view to efficient management of small organizations) towards public accountability and control on behalf of external stakeholders was prompted by the tightening external quality requirements for publicly funded non-profit organizations. However, he sincerely believes that external requirements are the wrong motivation for increasing control. Improving the quality of NIMDs work (and success as controller) primarily requires that the NIMD ‘owns’ the aim for quality at all organizational levels and that it is shared with all its partners.
Wim Nusselder is Quaker, married and father of a daughter and a son.
