Ghana's Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) recently organised the first ever Youth Forum for the youth wings of political parties represented in parliament in the country under the theme "Harnessing the Potential of the Youth of Ghana for Sustainable Development".
The forum provided an opportunity for young leaders to share their parties' positions on the theme. As reported by Mohammed Suleman on the AllAfrica.com website:
National Youth Organizers of the four political parties with representation in parliament have charged the leadership of their parties to involve the youth in their decision making processes, arguing that the potential of the youth cannot be underestimated.
According to them, the history of Ghana since the independence struggle had been that of sacrifice of the youth in nation-building.
They emphasized that economic growth and development cannot be achieved exclusive of youth-based programmes necessary for harnessing the potential of young people at all levels of national development.
