NIMD and Zambian partner, ZCID have agreed on a reform agenda for institutional development.
An external evaluation conducted in 2007 concluded that NIMD partner, the Zambian Centre for Inter-Party Dialogue (ZCID) was conducting extremely relevant political programmes and was right at the heart of where development policy should be: politics. During a recent working visit to Zambia, NIMD and ZCID agreed upon a joint priority agenda for institutional strengthening.
Institutional challenges
The report also identified a number of institutional challenges. In 2008, the Board members of ZCID who are the Secretary-Generals of parliamentarian parties, undertook practical steps as to further enhance the professionalisation of the institute.
Internal decision making procedures were further clarified, an archiving system
set-up and discussions on an external communication strategy embarked upon. During this working visit, ZCID and NIMD agreed upon practical ways to further improve mutual communication, the ZCID Board mandated a committee to define a draft fundraising strategy and to refine the institute's media strategy.
Besides programmatic and political support provided by NIMD, the institutional strengthening and capacity building of our partner organisations forms an integral part of the NIMD approach.
