On Wednesday 2 June, Ecuadorian parliamentarian Virgilio Hernandez will give a lunch lecture on participatory democracy at the NIMD offices in The Hague.
Mr Hernandez is an MP for the ruling party, Movimiento País. He is also a political scientist who teaches at the University of Quito.
In the past he was a member of the Constitutional Assembly, a consultant on the decentralisation of natural resource management, and a participant in urban social movements.
NIMD has invited Mr Hernandez to speak about participatory democracy, using Ecuador as a case study. After the lecture there will be an opportunity to ask questions and exchange views.
The following day, Mr Hernandez will also attend the ELE conference in the Glass Hall.
