Kenya: political party bill adopted
The Political Party Bill which will secure public funding of parties, was adopted by parliament on 17 October 2007.
The new bill provides for new regulation with regard to the funding and registration of parties. After initial refusal by President Kibaki to sign the bill into law, the bill has been amended with provisions which will also enable small parties to receive state funding.
