New economic framework for Zimbabwe

02 October 2007

Policy research think tank the Zimbabwe Institute has launched an alternative economic policy programme to resolve the crisis in Zimbabwe.

Progressive Zimbabwe is an alternative blueprint to end the economic crisis in Zimbabwe and to create a dynamic and vibrant economy that will provide jobs, food and economic opportunities for the people of Zimbabwe.

The programme proposes an agenda to political transformation including a new democratic constitution, participatory governance and land reform. Other recommendations include a stabilization and recovery programme. This multi-annual external assistance is estimated to require around 10 billion US dollars.

The Cape Town based Zimbabwe Institute is dedicated to influencing policy development in Zimbabwe according to social democratic principles.
