In most countries in which NIMD is active, the youth contributes nearly half of the population. In order to safeguard their specific interests it is vital that youth are active in politics and that they are being heard; at local and national level.

Organized as Young NIMD the seven youth branches of NIMD’s member parties are actively involved to enhance the political youth participation in NIMD programme countries. Currently, Young NIMD cooperates with youth wings in Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana and Guatemala.
