Heleen Schrooyen is a lawyer specialised in Human Rights and Refugee Law.

She has worked and lived for 5 years in Central America where she was involved in the verification of the Guatemalan Peace Accords and conflict resolutions on land issues in Cobán, Guatemala. She also worked in Costa Rica and Geneva for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). There she gave training on refugee treaties and legislation and was also involved in project management.
