The relationship between politicians and media in Central America is quite often characterized by tension and hostility. At 12 July 2007, both parties joined in an open dialogue at a conference in Managua, Nicaragua.
From 22-23 February in Cartagena, Colombia, journalists, politicians and scholars from five Andean countries discussed the outcome of a series of workshops on the relations between the media and politics in the region.
From 31 August to 1 September 2006, about 60 politicians, journalists and scholars met in Lima, Peru to discuss the relations between the media and politics in Latin America.
